Editor's Notes
As we sail through the year towards Christmas let us remember
that although many of us will be shopping for gifts on line and
in identikit town centre stores we should, where possible, try
to buy as many gifts and Christmas items at local shops. Christmas
is an important time for local traders and they rely on our support
to provide the large variety of goods and expertise
that we all talk about when local shops close down!
When in Croydon, take a walk over to the market, Surrey Street,
Frith Road, London Road, St Georges Walk and alike. In all these
places you can often find what you need and the profits stay
in the Croydon economy and are not sent off elsewhere. In this
example of Civic pride, you will be helping to build and preserve
the Croydon that we all value but that could so easily slip between
our fingers in the rush for an identikit Christmas.
However you spend your Christmas and new year, we look forward
to you contributing to Focus in the New Year, remember that you
can find us on line at http://www.CroydonSociety.org.uk - you
can always find the up to date diary of activities on the What's
On page.
A Big thank you to Ursula for assisting in the production
of Focus, if we have any other member who would not mind typing
up (into your own Computer) an article or two for Focus, then
please get in touch with me, my details are in Who's Who at the
front of Focus, or e mail me at Editor@CroydonSociety.org.uk
Best wishes
Timothy Godfrey
A few notes on how to make a contribution to the next edition
of Focus due out in early March 2002
Send your article or news to me at home, my details are in
Who's Who at the front of Focus along with other members of the
society please feel free to get in touch with any of us!
The best way to get get in touch is via e mail editor@croydonsociety.org.uk
or send me a disk of your work in basic text format or in Microsoft
Word. If you can not put it on disk, please type it onto clean
white paper (not typing paper) and please only use only one side.
Leave a clear margin all around and avoid mixing typed and ink
corrections. This is so that I can scan your text in to my computer
using special software. If you hand write something please ensure
that it is double spaced or very clear I can cope with
most hand-writing so please do not be put off putting something
in writing to me!
This is your Focus, it is what you make it. I look forward
to your next contribution!
